However when NBA star Dwayne Wade was spotted wearing a Gucci blazer with matching cropped cigarette trousers as he left practice, it sent the internet into a veritable fashion debate, sparking the question: Are men wearing cropped pants a good look?

Gabourey Sidibe was all glam at the 4th Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala New York held last night at the historic Plaza Hotel in New York City. Academy Award nominated actress posed for pics at the annual event, which attracted a who’s who of fashion industry notables including Iman, designer, Kenneth Cole; model, Kiara Kabukuru; and Jennifer Lopez, who was recognized as one of the event’s honorees.

Guests at the event enjoyed a live performance from Carly Ray Jepsen, and a fashion presentation.

Since its inception in 2010, the Inspiration series has grown to include events in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, São Paulo, Miami, Toronto and Rio de Janeiro. The galas have collectively raised more than $6 million to benefit amfAR, the global organization that has raised nearly 400 million to fund research in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

(New York, NY) Model Jessica White helped kick off Team Epiphany’s highly lauded #SummerFridays event series last week at Brooklyn Terrace in Brooklyn, NY.

The face of Maybelline cosmetics mixed and mingled at the Pepsi, Heineken and Hennessy sponsored “Brooklyn Luau”-themed fete alongside  fashion designers Dee and Ricky, and Roc Nation newcomer, Elijah Blake.

Launched in 2009 as SoBe Summer Fridays, the event series included six events at Donna Karan’s Stephan Weiss Studio. The New York City summer series returned in June 2012 as #SummerFridays.

Team Epiphany, a New York based brand solutions agency, will continue the series throughout the month.

Tia Mowry-Hardrict is a vegan, and proud of it! The former star of BET’s “The Game” unveiled her new People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) ad campaign yesterday in Los Angeles to an audience that included her twin sister, Tamara Mowry.

Wearing nothing but an apron made of fresh lettuce leaves in the advertisement, Mowry is out to show how fun and sexy vegan cooking can be accompanied by the tag-line: “Let Veganism Grow on You.”

“I wanted to become a voice for my community. … I wanted to educate my culture about the benefits of becoming vegan,” Mowry explained in an exclusive interview with PETA. “The more you learn about the benefits of being vegan, the more you become alive and the more you become aware of why it’s a really great decision. Not only am I helping myself, I’m helping the animals out there, I’m helping the environment—going vegan, I feel great.”

Chaka Khan’s year long toast to her 40 years in the music business continued as she was inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame during the legendary theater’s 2013 Spring Gala held last night in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood.

The Grammy winning diva and Soul Train Icon was honored with tribute performances by Patti Labelle, Erykah Badu, Mary J. Blige, Deborah Cox, Jennifer Holliday, and UK singer, Alexandra Burke.

Khan joins an illustrious roster of hall-of-fame inductees that include Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, and Lionel Richie, among others.

Gayle King, Wayne Brady, Kevin Liles, Sarah Jessica Parker, Soledad O’ Brien, S. Epatha Merkerson, and Chef Marcus Samuelsson were among the celebrities on hand to celebrate the singer’s career milestone.

Since 1973, Chaka Khan has been a major force in the world of music, selling over 200 million records worldwide, scoring eight platinum albums, six gold records, and 10 Grammy Awards.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit the theaters year-round activities, including performing arts presentations, family and educational programs, and the development of new work through commissions to emerging artists.

Award winning actress Wendy Raquel Robinson was among the honorees at The LadyLike Foundation’s 5th Annual Women of Excellence Awards and Scholarship Luncheon in Los Angeles.

The star of BET’s “The Game” was honored for her “excellence” and contributions to the community alongside fellow honorees Cookie Johnson, Dr. Pamela Wiley-Wells, Shaun Robinson and Dunia Elvir.

Hosted by last year’s award recipient Holly Robinson-Peete, the event also awarded scholarships to “deserving young women” going to college, and included a silent auction that featured rare autographed memorabilia from Michael Jackson, Sidney Portier, Martin Luther King, BB King, President Barack Obama.

Other celebs spotted at the event included Vanessa Bell Calloway, Laura Govan, Simone Smith, and Porscha Coleman.
