The Queen of hip-hop soul, Mary J. Blige, has officially signed on to star in the upcoming screen adaptation of the Broadway musical “Rock Of Ages.”

The eight time Grammy winner will play the role of Justice, a strip club owner. The film centers around a small town girl that falls in love with a big time rock star in the 80’s Hollywood era, all told using the music of several rock bands including Bon Jovi, Styx and White Snake. In the film, Blige is set to perform covers of hit songs from Poison and Quarterflash.

Other notable names interested in the film are actor Tom Cruise,  pop singer Taylor Swift and comedian Russell Brand.

Could this mean the Nina Simone biopic has been stalled…again?
