(New York, NY) Yesterday’s intense heat couldn’t keep fashion lovers of Rachel Roy away from her spring/summer 2012 collection presentation. The designer, known for her sharp yet feminine womenswear, showed a collection of garments that were soft, easy, and undeniably elegant.
Inspired by the 1992 film L’Amant (The Lover), the clothing showcased lines reminiscent of colonial Vietnam—the setting of the film.
While many pieces were black and white (or some variation of the two), there were wonderful pops of color—mint green, taupe, yellow, iced peach, and orange.
There was a welcomed play with masculine elements via draped suit jackets, tailored trousers, and pajama style separates.
As always her dresses were the highlight of the collection, most notably a floral print silk dress—brilliant indeed.
