Published by on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 7:09 pm.(New York, NY) New York Fashion week might have officially ended last Thursday (September 15), but the celebration of fashion continued on an extra day as Harlem’s Fashion Row presented its 4th annual presentation, “Beautifully Out of Place”, on September 16. Held at the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, the evening featured the design work of four emerging designers—Joseph Bethune, Kellia Rogers, Jakia Handy and Onyenauchea Nwabuzor
The night was highlighted by a presentation from the organization’s founder Brandice Henderson, who honored celebrity stylist June Ambrose, supermodel Tyson Beckford and Donna Williams—all of whom have made significant strides in the world of fashion.
Founded in 2007, HFR is comprised of roughly 30 fashion stylists, merchandisers, and industry professionals working together to introduce emerging designers of color to the global fashion community and aid designers in production, developing retail sales strategy, and providing media exposure.
This year’s event sponsors included Target, Iman Cosmetics, Ginger + Liz, Jones Magazine, and—your favorite network—Centric.
