The Apollo Theater is back on TV! Centric is gearing up for the premiere of Apollo Live, a fresh spin on the classic “Amateur Night” variety show that will give lucky hopefuls a chance to win cash, prizes, and the respect of the no nonsense audience.

Executive produced by Jamie Foxx, Marcus King, and Don Weiner, the show features soul legend, Gladys Knight; veteran emcee Doug E. Fresh, and New Edition’s Michael Bivins as judges, while comedian Tony Rock will serve as host.

For nearly eight decades, the Apollo Theater has served as a launch pad for a series of successful entertainers including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, James Brown, The Jackson 5, The Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross, and Lauryn Hill.
