Published by Danica Daniel on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 8:00 am.Oprah Winfrey has probably employed a few butlers in her day and now the Queen of all Media is playing the wife of one in the’ “The Butler.”
The film, directed by “Precious’” Lee Daniels, tells the story Eugene Allen, played by Forest Whitaker, an African-American man who worked as the White House’s butler between 1952 and 1986. 58-year-old Winfrey plays Allen’s wife Cecil Gaine. And while the movie was inspired by a story about Eugene Allen that appeared in The Washington Post in 2008, Daniels admits that he was also inspired by Oprah herself.
“She’s a monster, man!” Daniels told The Huffington Post. “She’s bringing it and I’m really proud of her. It’s crazy when you’re working with her because people are obsessed. I got to make sure there are no phones around. But we’re having a good time and I think that she’s able to escape the pressures of being Oprah while on my set, because she’s able to sort of be the character. Which is really nice to witness. I wrote this film for her.”
Winfrey gave fans a sneak peak from behind-the-scenes of the New Orleans set and tweeted a picture (above) of herself side-by-side with Daniels and co-stars Alan Rickman as President Ronald Reagan and Jane Fonda as First Lady Nancy Reagan.
The OWN powerhouse also posted a photo of herself and the sexy Lenny Kravitz, whom plays another butler in the movie. “Lenny Kravitz and me getting ready for our 80’s White House scene,” Winfrey tweeted in the cute photo
The star studded cast of “The Butler” also includes and Robin Williams as Dwight D. Eisenhower, James Marsden as John F. Kennedy, John Cusack as Richard M. Nixon, Liev Schreiber as Lyndon B. Johnson and Minka Kelly as Jackie Kennedy.
“The Butler” hits theaters in 2013.
