Mis-Match.Com: An Online Dating Experience

If nothing else I can say that I’ve tried a little bit of everything when it comes to dating—Speed dating, blind dating, old-school my-momma-set me-up dating. But, in 2007 I tried to get into online dating.
After hearing all of these great stories—from my friends, not the TV ads—about couples that have met online and have gotten hitched, I thought to myself: What the hell, let me test drive one of these sites out. Even if I strike out, it would make for some great writing material (the set-up for this post).
One night I was relaxing at my place with my girlfriend, when I decided to join one [the site isn't giving me money, so they shall remain nameless]. Since it was free to become a member, I locked in a username and decided to peruse the pickings before I paid my hard earned money to subscribe.
You Are: Woman Seeking Men

Proximity: 25 miles
Race(s): Black or Latino
As I waited for my options to load, I rubbed my hands in anticipation. And to my surprise the first profile to pop-up was a guy using the moniker “Dreads,” who by all accounts was attractive. But, the let down was, I used to date him back in 2003, when I lived in Atlanta. Was I being filmed for the revival episode of Punk’d? They want my money and this is who they match me with?
With my mouth wide open, I slowly scrolled through his profile and nodded my head at the different things he said he liked and the way he described himself. Damn, he still looked good, but he wasn’t dating material. I temporarily got lost in memories, regained my person, and quickly closed the window.
The moral of the story: Online dating is not an easy way out!
