CULTURELIST// Black Girls Rock! 2010 Hits BET This SundayPublished by Justin D Joseph on Friday, November 5, 2010 at 12:55 pm.
When DJ Beverly Bond created her Black Girls Rock Movement, little did she know her non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization would become a major event honoring the achievements of notable Black women. Established in 2006, BGR promotes the arts for young women of color, as well as encourages dialogue and analysis of the ways women of color are portrayed in the media. This Sunday, Bond’s hard work pays off in the form of an awards show honoring Keke Palmer, Raven Symone, Missy Elliott, Rev. Dr. Iyanla Vanzant, Teresa Clarke, Major General Marcelite J. Harris and the legendary Ruby Dee. Centric’s resident lifestyle expert Neycha, switched gears and hit the pink carpet to interview some of your favorite celebrities. We caught up with Singers Ledisi and Shontelle, model and BET personality Toccara, honoree Keke Palmer, actress Malinda Williams, BET’s Debra Lee and DJ Beverly Bond herself.
Tune for Black Girls Rock! airing November 7th at 8PM EST only on BET
