This year the Soul Train Awards honored the legendary Gladys Knight, presenting a musical tribute that highlighted the tunes that have made her career successful for over five decades. Naturally her artistry has influenced many contemporary singers, one being Syleena Johnson. The Chicago-based songstress released a cover of the Curtis Mayfield penned, “The Makings of You”—made popular by Knight, alongside The Pips in 1974. Check it out below.
