Vivian Green Covers “Oh Freedom” For ‘Soundtrack For A Revolution’

Published by Justin Joseph on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 1:28 pm.

It’s been some time since we’ve heard new recordings from R&B songstress Vivian Green, but the “Emotional Roller coaster” singer is back with a cover of the gospel spiritual, “Oh Freedom.” The song is just one of many that will be featured on the soundtrack to the acclaimed documentary, Soundtrack For a Revolution.

The soundtrack, available February 14, is a collection of civil rights era freedom songs and negro spirituals sang by a slew of contemporary artists including,  Anthony Hamilton, John Legend, Angie Stone, Wyclef Jean, The Roots, Blind Boys of Alabama, Joss Stone and Mary Mary.

Written and directed by Bill Guttentag and Dan Sturman, Soundtrack for a Revolution traces the story of the civil rights movement and the struggles fought by young African-American activists with an emphasis on the power of music.
