When Angela Winbush released “Treat U Rite” in 1994, she was no stranger to creating R&B hits. Formerly one half of Rene & Angela, the noted singer/songwriter’s song reached number six on the Billboard R&B singles chart, and became her ninth single to reach the R&B top ten—quite the feat after a five year absence.

Featured on her self-titled album, which was released the same year, the song stayed on the chart for twenty-two weeks and would mark her last song to chart that high.
