RETRO CENTRIC// The Fugees “Ready Or Not”

Published by Justin Joseph on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 8:00 am.

The Fugees 1996 single “Ready Or Not” was not their biggest hit. But in the school of 90s hip hop, it reigns supreme. Featured on the trio’s mega hit sophomore album, The Score, the song famously sampled 1987’s “Boadicea” by Enya, and The Delfonics‘ 1968 R&B classic, “Ready or Not Here I Come (Can’t Hide from Love).”

Co-produced by the group and Jerry “Wonda” Duplessis, the song was a top ten hit in nine countries, but it only managed to reach number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, and number 22 on the R&B singles chart.

If only Wyclef, Lauryn and Pras could get it together for a reunion album…
