MUSIC NEWS// Eminem Working With Dr. Dre on New Album, Supreme Court Ends Dispute Over Janet Jackson’s 2004 Wardrobe Malfunction & Ice Cube Talks About Black Reality TV

Published by Blair Bedford on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 8:47 am.

1. Eminem Working With Dr. Dre on New Album
Eminem has revealed that he’s hard at work on a new album, and while details on the project are still scarce, the hip hop superstar has already confirmed he will be collaborating with a familiar face — Dr. Dre.

“Yeah, of course he’ll be involved,” Em said of his frequent co-conspirator in an interview with DJ Whoo Kid on Shade 45 radio. “I usually get going and kind of start going a certain direction and just record what I’m feeling. Then I’ll go see Dre and fill in some of those pieces.” [MORE]

2. Supreme Court Let’s CBS off the Hook for Janet Jackson’s “Wardrobe Malfunction”
It’s been a busy week for the justices on the U.S. Supreme Court. The high court, which issued a landmark decision on President Barack Obama’s controversial health-care law yesterday [June 28], is now finally putting an end to the legal battle between CBS and the Federal Communications Commission over Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” at the 2004 Super Bowl. [MORE]

3. Ice Cube Speaks on Reality TV Programming
Ice Cube isn’t a big fan of a lot of Black reality TV, but the veteran rapper turned actor and television-movie producer doesn’t let it bother him too much. Asked by media personality-blogger Gyant at an event in Atlanta on June 28 about the way Black people are portrayed on reality television, Cube was matter-of-fact about the realities of reality programming.

“Forget the word ‘reality…’ The shows are scripted, the situations are put together,” he said. “They’re looking for the conflict, they wanna edit to the conflict. That is the show. Without the conflict, nobody’s watching. It’s a shame, but that’s kind of the nature of the beast.” [MORE]
