Twenty years ago today, Mary J. Blige’s break-out single, “You Remind Me” reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart. Originally featured on the soundtrack of the 1991 Halle Berry film, Strictly Business (which was produced by her then Uptown Records label head Andre Harrell), the song became the first single off her critically acclaimed debut album, What’s The 411. Paired with the video release in 1992, the song became a urban smash, and even a top forty crossover hit, peaking at #29 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
