NEW: Aaliyah Feat. Drake – “Enough Said”

Published by Justin Joseph on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 7:47 pm.

Aaliyah…new music? Believe it. A few days ago, news broke that Drake would be executive producing a new album of unreleased material from the late R&B star. And today saw the official release of the project’s first single “Enough Said,” featuring the Young Money rapper—naturally.

Produced by Noah “40″ Shebib, the song has no hints of the musical elements that made the singer a star in her hey day. And while it’s an attempt to make her more “contemporary,” it sounds more like a tune that would fare better for a JoJo, Jhene Aiko, or Frank Ocean type artist—you know, emo R&B.

So where do Aaliyah’s longtime musical collaborators Timbaland and Missy Elliott fall into the equation? Apparently, they don’t know what’s going on.

“I know they trying to drop some Aaliyah records, but if [Drake] do it, it should be with me and him, and Missy [Elliott],” said Timbaland in an interview with New York’s Power 105.1. “I don’t know what’s going on. The proper way to do that would be for me, him and Missy to be all on the record. For it to be on his record, that would not be right.”
