RETRO CENTRIC: Janet Jackson – “Pleasure Principle”
Published by Justin Joseph on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 12:34 pm.When Janet Jackson’s “Pleasure Principle” became a number one hit in 1987, the actress-turned-singer already had five hit singles under her belt—four of which reached number on the Billboard R&B chart. Featured on her 1986 breakout third album, Control, the song became her fifth R&B chart topper, and her third number one dance hit.
The Dominic Sena directed video—probably more iconic than the song—found the younger of the Jackson family dancing solo in a warehouse wearing only a t-shirt and jeans. The choreography was so dynamic, it landed Janet an MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography in 1988
