“All I wanna do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom-zoom, and a boom-boom—JUST SHAKE YA RUMP.” Twenty years ago, those now prolific words were the perfect jump start to a Summertime get together. Wreckx-N-Effect’s 1992 hit, “Rump Shaker” was the ultimate theme song for dancing bikini clad girls—and their admirers—at beach-front or pool side parties across the country.

Co-produced by Teddy Riley (who is also featured on the song) and Ty Fyffe, the song reached number one on the Billboard Rap chart, and No. 2 on the Hot 100 and R&B singles charts.

The song marked the group’s biggest hit (it was certified multi-platinum), and it also marked the early songwriting work of a young Pharrell Williams.
