Girl On Fire! Gabby Douglas Flips For Alicia Keys & Nicki Minaj At The 2012 MTV VMAs

Published by Danica Daniel on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 11:13 am.

Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas was a girl on fire at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. The 16-year-old gymnast, who made history at the 2012 games in London when she became the first African-American female and the third American ever to take win the solo all-around title for gymnastics, showed off her cartwheels, splits and somersaults when she joined Alicia Keys onstage for her performance of  “Girl On Fire.”

Later the two lovely ladies were joined by the always-colorful Nicki Minaj, who rhymed: “Took me on the balcony, telling me to jump with her/ Yeah, I’m in the ghost but I ain’t doing stunts with her/ I ain’t trying to be that, haters want to see that/ But I got ‘em aggy, cause I win the gold like Gabby.”

Later that night, Keys took to Twitter to thank Douglas and Minaj for helping her get fired up! “What a ball we had tonight!!,” Keys tweeted. “Thank u 4 the love! Shout 2 the champs! @nickiminaj @gabrielledoug #girlonfire.”
