WHERE IN THE HELL IS…CARL THOMAS?
Published by Justin Joseph on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11:02 am.In celebration of Dirty Money’s “Hello, Goodmorning” music video premiere this week on CENTRIC, “WHERE IN THE HELL?” goes BAD BOY! As Puffy Puff Daddy P.Diddy Diddy and the girls board that Last Train to Paris (au revoir!) we will take a bus through the tunnels of time to ask the that defining question: WHERE IN THE HELL IS…?. The illustrious artists roster that was is has seen the ascension of an icon and has pumped out some seminal 90’s music. Things have changed… n’est-ce pas? (Insert shoulder shrug) All aboard!
Period of Relevance: 2000-2001, 2004, 2006
Claim to Fame: His 2000 debut LP, Emotional featured the #1 Billboard R&B single “I Wish”. Subsequent singles off the album, “Summer Rain” and the title track “Emotional” charted well and pushed the album to platinum status.
The Decline: His follow-up, 2004’s Let’s Talk About It, didn’t see as much success. Promotion was said to have stalled following the death of Thomas’ step brother who was shot and killed in the singer’s hometown of Aurora, IL. A devastated Thomas took a break from music and promotional work. As a result his contract with Bad Boy Entertainment ended in 2005. In 2007, he signed with Bungalo Records and released So Much Better which sold a dismal 58,000 copies.
Where is He Now? We hear he is booking club dates with 90’s R&B crooner Case…and we also hear that ol’ Carl has picked up a few pounds.
Puff Diddy, we know your artist seem to disappear…but WHERE IN THE HELL IS CARL THOMAS?
