One of Hip-Hop’s incarcerated femcees is back! Da Brat was recently released from prison this past Monday, and is already heading into the studio to begin work on new music. “I’m getting some beats sent to me right now from JD [Jermaine Dupri]. I wasn’t really motivated in there to write. I need to be able to hear some fire beats and I need to hear it loud. I got two and a half years of shit built up that I need to talk about. I’m ready to get it in. I can’t wait,” said the performer in her interview.

It’s been a seemingly long three years since Brat (nee Shawntae Harris) was first sentenced in 2007, after pleading guilty to aggravated assault following an incident where the rapper verbally and physically attacked a hostess at an Atlanta nightclub.

In an exclusive with XXL magazine; Da Brat is discussing her time in prison, her best friend Mariah Carey and her thoughts on Nicki Minaj.
