Representing H-Town (that’s Houston, Texas for you non-slang throwers), rapper/singer and general around-the-way-girl IB has been silently carving out her own niche in the world of Hip-Hop. Formerly signed to Mathew Knowles’ Music World Entertainment, the femcee (nee Ingrid Burley) grew up in the shadows of the Destiny’s Child machine and counts Solange Knowles as a close friend. Regardless of connections, she’s not resting on her laurels, nor tagging behind her famous counterparts. Of anything she’s out to walk side by side on her own merit.
Shrouded in a cloud of purple smoke (insert raised eyebrow), the twenty-something has hustled hard releasing a series of online mixtapes, not to mention performing constantly in her native city and annually at Austin’s South By Southwest (SXSW) music festival. Just in time for the fall, IB releases her newest mixtape, 4567: Outta My Mind, and it’s quite possibly her strongest to date.
Chalk full of production gems and catchy (yet non-cheesy) hooks, the music is a nice reflection of Houston’s brand of hip-hop music. Highlights: “Ain’t No Stoppin Me Now” feat. Chris Styles, “On My Bullsh*t”, “More Than You’ll Ever Know”
So What Say You: Think this album is a banger? Or is she really just outta her mind. SOUND OFF in the comments below.
